  Solar battery consists of negative semiconductors and a positive semiconductors, with a junction called PN-junction where the two semiconductors meet. Solar energy is absorbed by the solar battery, causing positive and negative particles to move freely to opposing poles (positive particles to N semiconductor, negative particles to P semiconductor), allowing current to flow when devices such as motors and light bulbs are attached. Currently, cheaper replacements of silicon and perovskite solar batteries are under development.
